"Daisy, Please!"
"I don't know, I just don't know..."
"I love you and you love me... what more is there to ask for"
Gatsby paced, back and forth across the floor, each step creaking beneath his feet.
The uncertainty was saddening, yet so thrilling. Gatsby stopped. He got down on the floor at the feet of Daisy and wept.
"I love you, you know that," said Daisy. She ran her fingers through his hair as tears began to roll down her face. "I do love you." This to Gatsby was a goodbye... he could never see her again if she stayed with Tom. With no warning, Daisy whispered, "I want to be with you, can we run away?" Gatsby looked up slowly at her, with a shimmer in his eye from the tears that once existed.
"Do you mean it?" Gatsby whispered in return. She nodded. In that moment Gatsby sprang to his feet and embraced her a way that no one had before.
